Scientific Properties:
Fluorite's name is derived from the minerals ready fusibility, hence it is used as a flux in the steel and aluminium industries. It's crystal habit is typically to form cubes and rarely octahedra. Most fluorite emits a strong light blue or violet fluorescence under long wave UV light, under short wave UV light there is a similar but much weaker effect. Fluorite's colours range from violet, blue, black, yellow, green, pink and often zoned colours.
