Colours include black, dark brown and bronze coloured. Often accompanied by muscovite, amphibole (hornblende), quartz and feldspars. Found in Austria, Italy, Germany, France, USA and Australia. Rich scaly aggregates are known from a pegmatite in Evje, Norway, where its crystals reach up to several metres across.
